QRG's Worldwide Research
In 2003, IDC's QRG conducted over
250,000 interviews in North America, Europe, Latin America
and Asia. Interviews were conducted via multiple media, such
as phone, in-person and over the Internet. IDC interviews IT
directors and managers at businesses of all sizes, as well
as C-level executives and those in Marketing, Finance, and
Purchasing. And interviews with consumers provide important
insight into the home marketplace.
IDC's QRG has over 50 collective years of primary
research and market model development experience. Our extensive
background includes designing and managing custom surveys and
specialized analysis such as cluster analysis and predictive
modeling, data from which feeds IDC's forecasts around the
world. QRG also develops worldwide business and consumer models
which are incorporated into IDC's technology forecasts. Members
from the QRG team work closely with IDC analysts around the
world to build and populate these critical forecasts of the
fast changing IT marketplace.
Finding of the Week
According to a recent IDC survey, there are three
predominant sources of influence on LOB executives'
views about IT usage and business value: the media,
IT organization, and each executive's "word of mouth" network of
business contacts. Indeed, each of these three exert significantly more influence
direct outreach by IT suppliers themselves.
