Philip Carter Moves from IDC Asia/Pacific to Europe as Associate Vice President, Software Research

London, 20 June 2012 - IDC is delighted to announce the appointment of Philip Carter to the position of associate vice president European Software research. In his new role, Phil will be managing the team of Western European Software analysts, and implementing the newly created vendor and user products.
Jane Doorly, VP of the Software and Services group said, “Phil brings superb experience of the Software area in both the EMEA and Asia/Pacific regions. In addition, his most recent role at IDC in AP gives him an excellent perspective on clients’ research requirements so he will be a great asset to the European team, which has now doubled in size in the last 18 months.”
Prior to working for IDC in Europe, Carter worked in IDC's Asia/Pacific region, covering the software, services, channels, and sustainability research areas. Before joining IDC, he worked at SAS Institute (both in EMEA and Asia/Pacific) in marketing strategy, product management, and business development roles.
Phil will be based in IDC’s Munich office. Originally from Zimbabwe, Carter holds an honors degree in business science, majoring in economics and law from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
