Tim Tang
Analyst, Consumer Communications and Mobile Computing

Tim Tang is an Analyst at IDC Canada covering consumer communications and mobile computing.  This includes identifying trends, building models, and preparing forecasts.

Prior to IDC, Tim worked at Rogers Business Solutions preparing DCF analysis to determine profitability of fiber-to-the-building proposals.  This involved gathering customer requirements from the sales team, build cost from the fiber team, equipment costs from the traffic planning team, and tariff pricing from incumbents.  He later supported migration away from off-net data connections by investigating leased circuit invoices that were no longer in use - for cost savings and higher return on capital.

Tim then worked at MaRSDD supporting decision-makers in mobile and Internet start-ups with secondary market research.  This involved estimating total addressable market sizes and translating industry announcements into roadmaps.  This helped clients raise funding in Series A and B rounds.  Tim also supported due diligence for a $27M government venture fund for more than two years.

He holds a MBET and a BASc in engineering from University of Waterloo.
