Hirotoshi Asano is a Senior Market Analyst for IDC's Japan Personal Computing group, based in Tokyo. Asano plays a key role in driving IDC's Japan Quarterly Model Analysis from a research, process, and product development perspective. This involves critical research coordination and management internally as well as being a strategic interface with IDC's Japan clients. In his role, he covers research into Japan's PC market, tracking quarterly PC shipments, vendor strategies, competition, and market analysis, delivering strategic insights to help IDC's clients achieve their key business objectives. Asano also serves as an integral representative on IDC's worldwide research team.
Prior to joining IDC, Asano was responsible for Product Marketing of optical drive and PC peripherals at Shinano Kenshi Co., Ltd. (Plextor) for 15 years. He was instrumental in developing the special functions in the CD/DVD Drive as a product differentiator. Previously, he had worked with a PC vendor for 6 years where he was involved in IT consulting sales of MRP systems for the electric industries.
