Eiji Sasahara is Research Manager for IDC's Japan IT Spending Group and provides research and market analysis on key topics relating to Japan's Compliance, including J-SOX/IFRS adoption, IT-GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance), e-Discovery, privacy/personal information protection, healthcare, environmental management, consumer product safety, cloud compliance/security and smart grid governance. Sasahara also provides research support for IDC's Industry Insights team in research and market analysis of the Japanese vertical markets.

Prior to joining IDC, Sasahara has provided research and consulting services to global ICT vendors and start-up ventures on interactive brand management and channel marketing development. He also has working with non-Japanese media industry such as The Wall Street Journal Asia and the Japanese public sector including the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

Sasahara's views on IT Spending and compliance issues have often been quoted by major publications such as Asahi Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, Nikkei Shimbun, Nikkei BP and Toyo Keizai.

Dr. Sasahara holds a BA in human sciences from Keio University, Japan, an MBA from Boston University Graduate School of Management, the US, and a Ph.D. in Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from Chiba University Graduate School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Japan.
