Bill Rojas is a Research Director at IDC's Asia/Pacific Communications Group. Based in Hong Kong, Bill is responsible for both Telecom Consulting projects and IDC's research programs covering fixed line and wireless technologies. His areas of expertise include mobile cellular and wireless broadband infrastructure, optical transport, broadband access, 3G and 4G services, carrier capital expenditure analysis, and mobile operating system and ecosystem.
Bill has more than 25 years of international experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industries. His extensive experience spans across systems engineering, integration services, financial equity, microprocessor chip design, semiconductor competitive intelligence, Unix systems engineering and marketing, chip OEM licensing, analytical modeling and consulting, market research, and consulting. Prior to joining IDC, Bill held various appointments in IBM Corporation, Nomura Research Institute (Hong Kong), and Reuters Hong Kong.
Bill established his private consulting practice in Hong Kong in March 1999, specializing in telecommunications market research, analytical modelling, and consulting. He also co-authored a book entitled Brave New Unwired World, published by John Wiley in 2002. This was one of the first books in the market that took a serious look at fixed mobile convergence in the post-3G era.
Bill speaks English, Japanese, and Korean fluently and has a BSEE from the California Institute of Technology and an MSEE from the University of Tokyo.
