As Research Manager at IDC in the Philippines, Karen's main focus is on Communications research, including all aspects of supply-side research for both the wired line and the wireless services markets. She is also responsible for local demand-side telecommunications-related custom research and consulting projects in the Philippines.
In her role, Karen manages the Philippines Telecom Market Report Series Program, Semiannual Fixed Line Services Tracker, Quarterly Wireless Services Tracker as well as various syndicated research programs covering telecommunications, wireless markets and technologies, broadband access and, IP communication in the Philippines. She has also authored and co-authored reports for the Philippine ICT Report Series Program, as well as participated in various IT-related research endeavors.
Karen's research skills and market knowledge have consistently been tapped for telecommunication consulting projects, research studies and client workshops in Malaysia and Asia/Pacific. As a result of her knowledge and insights of the telecommunication industry, Karen has spoken at several industry and IDC events in the Philippines. In FY04, she received the IDC Asia/Pacific Annual Excellence Award for Country Research Support as recognition of her diligence and unfailing support to the research community.
When Karen first joined IDC in August 2000, she was responsible for monitoring local economic and political activities that affected the ICT market as well as editing research. Subsequently, she took up the position as Analyst for IT Training and Skills. This role gave her the opportunity to be involved in providing analyses and assessments of the ICT manpower landscape in the Philippines. She then became the Analyst for Broadband and IP Equipment Markets, where she was responsible for syndicated studies focusing on xDSL and cable modem access technologies, and VoIP Equipment.
Karen graduated from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
