Brian McDonough is a Research Manager in IDC's Analytics and Data Warehousing Software research service. In his role, Mr. McDonough is responsible for providing coverage of supply-side trends within the business analytics market as well as user demand for technologies related to the implementation of business analytics. Primary areas of coverage in 2006 include workforce and business analytics and decision process automation software, including data visualization and contextual business intelligence delivery. Mr. McDonough develops market sizing and forecasts growth for these markets as well as investigates and reports on market dynamics and software suppliers.
Previously at IDC, Mr. McDonough covered the enterprise portal software market and composite applications research. Prior to this focus Mr. McDonough covered several markets including knowledge management, accounting, human resources and payroll, maintenance management, project management and materials management. He introduced coverage for the treasury management, self-service procurement, workforce management and travel and expense management application software markets in 1999. Mr. McDonough served as IDC's Software Research Group's inquiry analyst in 1997 prior to joining the cross-industry applications research group.
