Richard V. (Dick) Heiman is the director of Global Software Model and Forecast Management. His team is chartered to deliver consistency, completeness, and accuracy of software forecasts, shares, trackers, and other data models worldwide. Key responsibilities include developing and managing processes and tools for data collection, analysis, and quality assurance including ongoing maintenance and support of the software market forecaster database and generation of the Worldwide Software Market Forecaster pivot table products.
Since 1993, Mr. Heiman has provided client inquiry service, survey analysis and support, and research project support to IDC's Software Research Group. He initiated IDC quantitative analysis of emerging markets such as automated software quality and configuration management. Prior to assuming his present role, Mr. Heiman held the position of Research Director, Application Development and Deployment with primary focus on application life-cycle management.
Prior to his tenure at IDC, Mr. Heiman had more than 30 years of experience in the hardware and software industry with wide-ranging technical and managerial experience in design automation system development and support, engineering design processing, ISO 9000 certification, document control, and technical computer operations management. He received Honeywell's highest technical achievement award for his groundbreaking work in design automation development. During his career at Honeywell and Groupe Bull, he was a major contributor to NASA and DoD projects and led the international design and implementation of an engineering/manufacturing digital data interchange system.
Mr. Heiman holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu engineering honorary societies. He also holds the Certificate in Data Processing (CDP) from DPMA.
