Jonathan Gaw researches the dynamics of the evolving Connected Home market. His research covers consumer networking and connectivity technologies and the entertainment, communications and life management devices and applications that they enable. Subjects include devices and technologies such as home networking, networked consumer electronics, home automation, monitoring and control, consumer smart meter applications, consumer telemedicine and telehealth, and networked communications applications in the home. Mr. Gaw is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Gaw covered electronic commerce as a staff writer for the business section of the Los Angeles Times, reporting on trends and events in online retailing. He had covered the development of business on the Internet since 1994 and had been a journalist since 1989, writing for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis, where he wrote an online technology column, and The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, where he helped launch the newspaper’s personal technology section.

Mr. Gaw earned his BA in government and public policy analysis from Pomona College in Claremont, California and has trained at the University of Missouri School of Journalism’s Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. and the American Press Institute.
