Kitty Fok
General Manager, IDC China

As a general manager, Kitty Fok leads the IDC China Business Unit with a team of over 50 specialized analysts and oversees all research processes for the Greater China region. Kitty’s expertise includes an in-depth understanding of the IT market with a focus on emerging markets, China government agenda, as well as the fundamentals of forecasting, business development, and strategic planning/analysis. Since joining IDC in 1996, Kitty’s involvement in Asia/Pacific PC market analysis and end-user research has contributed to numerous region-wide consulting efforts, specifically in the area of hardware computing trends in Asia/Pacific.

Amongst her numerous accomplishments, Kitty has refined and maintained database and forecasting models for IDC's PC Tracker programs and end-user research in Asia/Pacific, enabling clients to identify market opportunities, understand competitive strengths and weaknesses, and develop effective business development models. Pioneering innovative research in IDC, Kitty has offered in-depth analysis of China's PC market by sub-regions, and conducted extensive analysis that provided clients with the tools they required to further understand and penetrate the vast and highly diverse China market. As a developer of market-specific competitive strategies, including target market selection and sales strategies, Kitty has served as an invaluable asset to key IDC clients. She has created numerous vendor profiles which helped clients identify success strategies in marketing, sales and channel management, and these have also been frequently deployed to assist clients in refining their go-to- market strategies.

Fluent in English and Mandarin, Kitty is a frequently featured speaker at various industry events and she has been invited to appear on BBC, Bloomberg, CNN and CNBC. Her opinions have also been published in publications including the Asian Wall Street Journal, South China Morning Post, ComputerWorld , and China Daily.

Kitty works closely with clients such as IBM, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Microsoft, Intel,  AMD, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Samsung, Apple, Acer, Cisco, Oracle, SAP, Huawei, China Mobile, and Government, to deliver in-depth analysis and dependable client advice.

Prior to joining IDC, Kitty was an analyst with Gartner Dataquest.

Kitty has a Higher Diploma in Mathematics, Statistics and Computing, from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a Master's of Science in Management Science (Operational Research) from Lancaster University, United Kingdom.
