Robert Amatruda is a Research Director, Data Protection and Recovery, covering hardware and software solutions that enable disk-based data protection and recovery. He is responsible for analyzing and forecasting data-protection and recovery solutions on a worldwide basis. In 2011, Mr. Amatruda initiated coverage on the Purpose Built Backup Appliance (PBBA) market. This augments his coverage of the tape hardware, data-protection and recovery software markets.
As a recognized leader in the storage market, Mr. Amatruda’s insights, analysis, and market data are frequently sought by clients in order to validate strategic product and market issues. He is a frequent keynote speaker at trade events and is often quoted in industry and trade publications.
Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Amatruda worked for the Cahner's Publishing Company as a staff economist specializing in the semiconductor and electronics industries. In addition to Cahner’s, he was a research analyst with the Boston Redevelopment Authority, Policy Development, and Research Department where he tracked the commercial construction and employment sector.
Mr. Amatruda received a B.A. in Urban Studies and Public Policy at Boston University.
