This IDC study examines the collaborative applications market from 2009 to 2011. Revenue and market shares of the leading vendors are provided for 2011.
"It is no longer good enough to simply meet basic collaboration needs," says Vanessa Thompson, research manager for IDC's Enterprise Collaboration and Social Solutions program. "To take advantage of the change in user behavior driven by the social Web, collaborative application vendors need to deliver a clear message of product capabilities, direction, and differentiation. It will be essential to provide a more synchronous functionality to both internal and external customers and tie this to existing investments."
