Abstract

This IDC study examines the messaging security market for the period from 2010 to 2016, with vendor revenue and market growth forecasts. Worldwide market sizing is provided for 2010 and 2011, and a five-year growth forecast for this market is shown for 2012–2016. Revenue and market share of the leading vendors are provided for 2010 and 2011.

"In spite of myriad new forms of communications and collaboration technology available to enterprise workers — video, instant messaging, social media and networks, and mobile devices — the humble email inbox continues to be among the most critical tools for employee productivity," says Phil Hochmuth, program manager for IDC's Security Products research. "Access to corporate email has never been more widespread or diverse, as employees connect personal smartphones and tablets to corporate mailboxes and access mail via the Web from almost any browser-capable device. This means securing these platforms must evolve to more flexible, cloud-based approaches — from security SaaS to cloud-based threat intelligence and monitoring capabilities."
